David Zimmerman was born in Washington, D.C.He began his studies at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1964. He continued on in his training with Bill Woodward at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. In order to receive a bacalaureate degree he transferred to George Washington University, where he studied Drawing and Printmaking with Frank Wright. He was granted a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts in 1970.After a brief period of training with Phillip Pearlstein in Massachusetts, he returned to George Washington University where he again studied with William Woodward and Arthur Hall Smith. I love this idyllic country scene, David. Your work is lovely and you very successfully achieved exactly what you talk about in your description- the colors, the light, and the warm contented feeling one gets just looking at this painting are its magic. I, too, find myself wanting not to duplicate a photo but to create art that tells a story, makes people feel good, or reminds someone of a happy memory.
