Our spiral notebooks are 6" x 8" in size and include 120 pages which are lined on both sides. The artwork is printed on the front cover which is made of thick paper stock, and the back cover is medium gray in color. The inside of the back cover includes a pocket for storing extra paper and pens.

I painted this while on vacation, so instead of the usual studio work this was done directly from the subject. In addition to changing location, this was done exclusively using painting knives instead of brushes, and an attempt to apply the principles of "full color seeing" ala Susan Sarback and then the Cape Cod school as presented by Lois Grifell. I guess all of these could account for some of the clumsiness of execution. Also, starting a piece on Thursday afternoon when I am leaving on saturday AM is maybe not such a great idea!
I marvel at the plein aire painters who create such beautiful work, like Deb Putnam or Ylli Haruni.
David Zimmerman was born in Washington, D.C.He began his studies at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1964. He continued on in his training with Bill Woodward at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. In order to receive a bacalaureate degree he transferred to George Washington University, where he studied Drawing and Printmaking with Frank Wright. He was granted a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts in 1970.After a brief period of training with Phillip Pearlstein in Massachusetts, he returned to George Washington University where he again studied with William Woodward and Arthur Hall Smith.
